The Colorado Avalanche first stepped out onto the ice as the as the Quebec Nordiques, a team that was a member of the World Hockey Association (WHA) from 1972 through 1979 before it joined the NHL (National Hockey League).
In 1995, the team was acquired by the COMSAT Entertainment Group and relocated to its current home in Denver, CO, where it was also renamed the Colorado Avalanche. The Pepsi Center is located in the heart of downtown Denver. Colorado hockey fans who are already in the neighborhood can take Speer Boulevard to Auraria Parkway. After heading west Auraria Parkway, they’ll make a right on 11th street to enter the arena.
Drivers headed south on I-25 will take exit 212B. After exiting, they’ll turn left on Speer Boulevard, go to the second stoplight and turn right onto Chopper Circle. Drivers who are going north on I-25 will exit at 210B toward Auraria Parkway. After merging on Auraria Parkway, they’ll make a left on 11th street and enter the Pepsi Center.
Once fans arrive at the arena, they can access the 4,930 parking spots available on site at the Toyota Parking lot or they can find additional parking nearby at Elitch Gardens or the Auraria Campus.
The Toyota Parking Lot provides several different sections for fans with various preferences and needs. The Camry Lot includes parking for attendees who hold VIP passes. The Prius lot and Tundra lot serve Pepsi Center permit holders as well as the general public.
To spend less time parking and more time cheering, you can take advantage of premiere parking in the Rav4 Lot, which is completely reserved for the general public and has the closest parking spots to the Pepsi Center. For an even more convenience fans can drive to the Highlander Lot, which has valet parking drop off and pick up in the circle drive located near the arena’s East Atrium.

A bus stop is located near the Pepsi Center grounds right at Auraria Parkway and 9th Street. The C, E and W light rail lines include a Pepsi Center – Elitch Garden stop, which is located at 1700 9th. S. Fans can also take advantage of free shuttle rides on the 16th Street Mall.
If you’re biking to the stadium, you can park your bicycle at one of four racks provided by the Pepsi Center. You’ll find racks located near the arena’s East Atrium, in the Toyota Prius Lot South, and outside the Grand Atrium.
For most Pepsi Center events, the arena doors open one hour before the start of the event, and the parking lots open three hours before the event.
