Colorado Rockies – Team History

The history of the Colorado Rockies goes back to 1991, when Denver was officially approved to be the site of one of the National League’s two new franchises. That same year the site for the baseball team’s playing field was chosen and named Coors Field.

The team began its inaugural season in 1993 at the Mile High Stadium, where they played until 1995, when Coors Field was completed. For its first game in the new stadium the team got off to a legendary start with a memorable nail-biter against New York. Dante Bichette hit a three-run homer to secure a win in 14th inning.

The Rockies advanced to the World Series in 2007 and have made it to the MLB postseason three times. This year could be another big one for the Rockies, so don’t miss out on the excitement. Check out the Colorado Rockies schedule and get great tickets for the next game.
